Company Story
1946 - Wickes Group plc was founded by Alan Wickes as a small builders' merchant in Nottingham.
1950 - The company expanded to open its first branch in Derby.
1961 - Wickes went public with a listing on the London Stock Exchange.
1972 - The company acquired its first DIY retail store, Homecare.
1984 - Wickes acquired the Homebase chain of DIY stores.
1997 - The company demerged its builders' merchant business, Wickes Builders Merchants, and focused on DIY retailing.
2000 - Wickes was acquired by Focus DIY, a rival DIY retailer.
2007 - Wickes was acquired by Travis Perkins, a builders' merchant and home improvement retailer.
2015 - Wickes was demerged from Travis Perkins and listed as a separate company on the London Stock Exchange.
