1999 - Terna was established as a subsidiary of Enel, the Italian electricity company, to manage the national transmission grid.
2000 - Terna began operating as an independent company, separating from Enel.
2004 - Terna was listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.
2005 - Terna acquired the transmission grid from Enel, becoming the owner and operator of the Italian national transmission grid.
2011 - Terna launched its first sustainability report, outlining its commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
2013 - Terna invested in the development of smart grids and renewable energy integration.
2015 - Terna launched its first green bond, raising €1 billion for renewable energy projects.
2017 - Terna acquired a majority stake in the Chilean transmission company, Transelec.
2019 - Terna launched its 'Grid 2030' plan, outlining its strategy for the development of the Italian transmission grid.
