1920 - The Dubinsky Brothers, Maurice, Edward, and Barney, open their first movie theater in Kansas City, Missouri, marking the beginning of AMC Entertainment.
1961 - The company is officially incorporated as American Multi-Cinema, Inc.
1968 - AMC goes public with an initial public offering (IPO).
1971 - AMC introduces the first Sensurround sound system in its theaters.
1983 - AMC begins to expand internationally, opening its first theater in Mexico.
1991 - AMC introduces the first stadium-style seating in its theaters.
1995 - AMC begins to convert its theaters to megaplexes, featuring multiple screens.
2004 - AMC is acquired by a private equity consortium led by Apollo Global Management.
2012 - AMC goes public again with a second IPO.
2016 - AMC acquires Odeon & UCI Cinemas, expanding its presence in Europe.
2017 - AMC acquires Nordic Cinema Group, expanding its presence in Northern Europe.
