1971 - FONAR Corporation was founded by Raymond V. Damadian, an American physician and inventor.
1977 - Damadian develops the first MRI scanner, the Indomitable, which produces the first human MRI image.
1980 - FONAR introduces the first commercial MRI scanner, the QED 80.
1985 - FONAR develops the first high-field MRI scanner, the Sigma 5000.
1990 - FONAR introduces the first open-bore MRI scanner, the Stand-Up MRI.
2004 - FONAR develops the first Upright MRI scanner, allowing patients to be scanned in a weight-bearing state.
2013 - FONAR introduces the Upright MRI scanner with a 0.6 Tesla magnet, the Upright MRI 6000.
2019 - FONAR celebrates its 48th anniversary and continues to innovate in the field of MRI technology.
