OFS Capital Corporation reported net investment income of $0.20 per share for the fourth quarter of 2025, a decrease from $0.22 per share in the prior quarter. The decline was primarily attributed to a lower net interest margin resulting from higher interest rates on new unsecured notes. The company's actual EPS came in at $0.20, slightly below estimates of $0.23. Total net investment income decreased by 11% to $9,400,000, while expenses decreased by 12% to $6,700,000. Publication Date: Mar -07

📋 Highlights
  • Net Investment Income Decline:: Q4 NII fell to $0.20 per share (-9.1% qoq) due to lower net interest margin from higher interest rates on new unsecured notes.
  • Net Asset Value Drop:: NAV decreased to $9.19 per share (-9.7% qoq) driven by nonperforming loan markdowns and CLO equity depreciation.
  • Debt Maturity Extension:: All near-term debt maturities pushed to 2028, with $31M in unsecured notes repaid and $25M Banc of California facility extended to 2028.
  • Financial Performance:: Net investment income fell 11% to $9.4M, while expenses declined 12% to $6.7M in Q4 2025.
  • Strategic Focus:: Emphasis on capital preservation, balance sheet strengthening, and long-term NII growth amid net interest margin compression and reference rate declines.

Balance Sheet Strengthening Efforts

The company's net asset value at December 31 was $9.19 per share, down from $10.17 per share in the prior quarter, mainly due to further markdowns of nonperforming loans and unrealized depreciation on CLO equity holdings. However, OFS Capital Corporation continues to focus on improving its balance sheet, with efforts to extend debt maturities and reduce outstanding debt. The company has successfully pushed out all near-term maturities of its debt, with the earliest remaining maturity in 2028. As Bilal Rashid, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, noted, the company is committed to preserving capital while improving net investment income over the long term.

Valuation and Dividend Yield

With a Price-to-Book Ratio of 0.43, the stock appears to be undervalued relative to its book value. Additionally, the Dividend Yield stands at 30.36%, making it an attractive option for income-seeking investors. The company's efforts to strengthen its balance sheet and improve net investment income over the long term may positively impact its valuation multiples. The current ROE of -27.67% and ROIC of -7.61% indicate that the company is still facing challenges in generating returns, but the focus on preserving capital and reducing debt may help improve these metrics in the future.

Outlook and Loan Portfolio

The company expects further net interest margin compression due to lower reference rates and continues to closely monitor its loan portfolio. Despite the challenges, the loan portfolio remains stable and diversified, and is well-positioned to withstand the current market environment. OFS Capital Corporation's efforts to extend debt maturities and reduce outstanding debt are expected to contribute to its long-term stability.
