Company Story
1969 - Covivio Hotels was founded as a subsidiary of the French group, Foncière des Régions.
1970 - The company opened its first hotel, the Novotel Genève Centre, in Geneva, Switzerland.
1980 - Covivio Hotels expanded to France with the opening of the Novotel Lyon Part-Dieu.
1990 - The company entered the German market with the acquisition of the Dorint Hotels chain.
2000 - Covivio Hotels merged with the French hotel group, Suez, to form a new entity, Colony Capital.
2005 - The company was renamed Covivio Hotels, and its portfolio expanded to over 400 hotels across Europe.
2010 - Covivio Hotels launched its first sustainable development strategy, focusing on energy efficiency and waste reduction.
2015 - The company was listed on the Euronext Paris stock exchange, raising €1.1 billion in its initial public offering.
2018 - Covivio Hotels acquired the European hotel portfolio of the Swedish company, Pandox AB, for €2.6 billion.
