1894 - Founding of the first Crédit Agricole local bank in Pontivy, Brittany, by a group of farmers.
1901 - Creation of the first regional bank, Crédit Agricole de l'Ouest, in Rennes.
1920 - Establishment of the Crédit Agricole National Federation, which brings together regional banks.
1945 - Nationalization of the Crédit Agricole, which becomes a public institution.
1960 - Creation of the Crédit Agricole's first international subsidiary in Morocco.
1988 - Privatization of the Crédit Agricole, which becomes a cooperative bank.
1990 - Merger of Crédit Agricole with the Banque Indosuez to create Crédit Agricole Indosuez.
2003 - Creation of the Crédit Agricole S.A. as a holding company for the Crédit Agricole group.
2004 - Acquisition of the Italian bank, Banca Intesa, and creation of the Crédit Agricole Consumer Finance.
2011 - Merger of Crédit Agricole's asset management activities with those of Société Générale to create Amundi.
2014 - Sale of the Crédit Agricole's stake in the Greek bank, Emporiki Bank of Greece.
2016 - Acquisition of the French bank, Pioneer Investments, and creation of Amundi Pioneer.
2019 - Merger of Crédit Agricole's insurance activities with those of the French insurer, Predica.
