1982 - The company changed its name to Big Lots, Inc. and began trading on the American Stock Exchange.
1985 - Big Lots, Inc. acquired Toy Liquidators, a toy retailer.
1993 - The company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol BIG.
2002 - Big Lots, Inc. acquired the leases of 11 former Kmart stores.
