2005 - LanzaTech founded by Dr. Sean Simpson, with a vision to develop a new generation of sustainable, low-carbon fuels and chemicals.
2007 - LanzaTech develops its proprietary microbe, which can convert waste biomass into ethanol and other valuable chemicals.
2010 - LanzaTech partners with Chinese steel company, Baosteel, to develop a commercial-scale ethanol production facility.
2012 - LanzaTech raises $55.8 million in Series C funding to support commercialization of its technology.
2014 - LanzaTech commissions its first commercial-scale ethanol production facility in China.
2017 - LanzaTech partners with Virgin Atlantic to develop low-carbon jet fuel from waste biomass.
2018 - LanzaTech raises $72 million in Series D funding to support expansion of its technology.
2020 - LanzaTech goes public through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), listing on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
