1951 - John Gregg starts selling eggs and yeast from a pushcart in Newcastle upon Tyne, marking the beginning of Greggs.
1957 - John Gregg opens his first shop in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne.
1964 - Greggs becomes a limited company, with John Gregg as Managing Director.
1972 - Greggs opens its 100th shop in the North East of England.
1984 - Greggs is floated on the London Stock Exchange.
1994 - Greggs acquires the Bakers Oven chain, expanding its presence in the South of England.
2001 - Greggs opens its 1,000th shop in the UK.
2013 - Greggs launches its new format shops, featuring a modernised store design and an expanded food-on-the-go offer.
2019 - Greggs launches its vegan sausage roll, which becomes a huge success and helps drive sales growth.
