Company Story
1931 - Central Securities Corporation (CSC) was founded by a group of investors.
1933 - CSC began operating as a investment management company.
1940 - CSC introduced its first mutual fund, the Central Securities Fund.
1955 - CSC went public with an initial public offering (IPO).
1968 - CSC merged with the investment firm, W.H. Newbold's Son & Co.
1982 - CSC acquired the investment management firm, Wood, Struthers & Winship.
1993 - CSC was acquired by the financial services company, FleetBoston Financial.
2004 - FleetBoston Financial merged with Bank of America, and CSC became a subsidiary of Bank of America.
2010 - Bank of America sold CSC to the private equity firm, GTCR.
