1864 - Heineken is founded by Gerard Adriaan Heineken in Amsterdam.
1873 - Heineken wins the Medaille d'Or at the International Maritime Exhibition in Paris.
1886 - Heineken introduces the now-famous Heineken A-yeast, which is still used today.
1900 - Heineken begins exporting beer to the Dutch East Indies.
1933 - Heineken introduces its distinctive green bottle.
1940s - Heineken expands to the United States and begins exporting to other countries.
1968 - Heineken merges with Amstel Brewery to form Heineken N.V.
1991 - Heineken acquires Murphy's Brewery in Ireland.
2005 - Heineken acquires the Mexican brewery, Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma.
2010 - Heineken acquires the Femsa Cerveza brewery in Mexico.
2015 - Heineken acquires a 50% stake in Lagunitas Brewing Company in the United States.
